Koala cuteness, conservation and news from the front line.

FOK’s New Building has started

Our long-awaited Education and Volunteer Centre, possible through a $78,000 contribution from the Federal Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development’s (DIRD) under the National Stronger Regions Fund and a bequest from our former Care Coordinator Pat Barnidge, has finally got off the ground.

We received approval of our Development Application (DA) from Lismore Council on 8 November 2016 and have been busy organising the documentation required as Conditions of Consent so that the necessary Construction Certificate can be approved. Hopefully that will happen very soon, but in anticipation of that occurring, and to meet DIRD’s requirements, appropriate signs have been installed and the area has been cleared of vegetation including 18 koala food trees. We will be planting 163 koala food trees to compensate for those removed, most of which had been planted by us over the years we have leased the site from Council.

Watch this site for progress on the building.
