Upcoming Koala Training Days for the start of 2010Friends of the Koala's training program for the first quarter of 2010 follows: We are always in need of new members, especially active ones so please forward this information to anyone you know is interested in assisting Friends of the Koala's koala conservation work. Basic Training Day Saturday 27 February 2010 9.30am – 12.30pm Room Z181 Southern Cross University Campus – follow the signs from the Care Centre on Rifle Range Rd Cost: $5 Morning Tea Provided This course is an introduction to Friends of the Koala and its conservation effort, focussing in particular on koala rescue and rehabilitation. It is aimed at those who have no prior training or who would like a refresher in the basics of koala assessment, rescue and how Friends of the Koala operates.
Caring for Koalas in the Friends of the Koala Care Centre Saturday 20 March 2010 9.30am – 12.30pm Room Z181 Southern Cross University Campus – follow the signs from the Care Centre on Rifle Range Rd Cost: $5 Morning Tea Provided A must for anyone who is already working in the Koala Care Centre or is keen to start and would like to know more about what is involved. The program will cover standard procedures required for the care of the Koalas and routine procedures that help the Koala Care Centre to operate smoothly and effectively.
An Update on Aspects of Koala Ecology, Conservation & Management: a workshop presented by Dr Steve Phillips Saturday 27 March 2010 9.30am for 10am start (sharp) – 4pm Room Z181 Southern Cross University Campus – follow signs from the Care Centre on Rifle Range Rd Cost: $10 Friends of the Koala members, other licensed rehabilitators and concessional registrations $20 Others Morning Tea Provided BYO Lunch Dr Phillips is an independent scientist with the NSW Koala Recovery Team and principal of Biolink Pty Ltd, Ecological Consultants. He has over 35 years of experience with koalas and is an internationally acknowledged authority on the ecology, conservation and management of the species. The workshop will be based on Steve's current work in NSW, Queensland and Victoria, with an emphasis on projects in the Northern Rivers (including Skyline Road and its koalas). Bookings are essential for all days and can be made by email to info@friendsofthekoala.org, signing on the booking sheet in the Koala Care Centre or by phoning the hotline on 6622 1233. Fees are payable on the day. |
