Spice

Spice koala orphan in careSpice came into care a little larger than many joeys when her mother was fatally injured by a car near Rocky Creek Dam. In the fright Spice had climbed to the top most point of a nearby tree. At 2kg she would have been unlikely to have survived in the wild without her mum so efforts were made to retrieve her from her vantage point. Country Energy came to the rescue with a cherry picker that was able to extend up and reach her.

She quickly settled into home care and was paired up with Ellie another orphan who was already in care. Similarly Ellies mother had been killed when hit by a car. Ellie and Spice love playing together and get up to all sorts of mischief and make lots of mess. They are about to be moved into an outdoor run much to their carers relief.

Spice was successfully released on May 1. If you would like to receive information on Spice and the story of her return to the wild please click on the links below to offer your support which will be put directly towards the care of koalas in need.
