Shiva
Fortunately the vet visit showed that the blood was from tick bites rather than dog bites and despite being anemic, Shiva was climbing well and eating well. He was too young to be out on his own yet and needed to stay in care until his blood levels improved so was placed with a home carer. Shiva improved rapidly and it was not long until he was put in an outside run with other koalas of his age. He was then transferred to a pre release enclosure close to where he was originally rescued. After spending a few weeks in this run to orientate himself to the area the gate was opened and he was allowed to come and go as he pleased while still being supported with fresh bunches of leaf. Several weeks later Shiva was sighted at his release site doing well.
