Malcolm

Malcolm the koalaMalcom is a huge boy weighing in at 9.2kg on his arrival to the Care Centre. At only 3 years old he is a very fine example of a koala apart from his red eyes, swollen and sore with conjunctivitis. He has spent his time in the Care Centre in the company of 3 other boys - Dock, Aric and Champ - who came into care at the same time with the same problem.

The carers were a bit hesitant at first when giving Malcolm his daily medications which included an injection of antibiotics, his size is a bit daunting. But it was not long before we all realised he is a big, gentle giant.

Malcolm is responding well to care although because his eyes were so bad he may require surgery to remove excess inflammation prior to release.

Lucky for Malcolm his eyes healed enough that he did not require surgery and he has now been successfully released back to were he came from. It is hope those genes which have made him such a beautiful, big male go into siring a few joeys.
