Koala ResearchFriends of the Koala believes that funding for further research into koalas is desperately needed to ensure their survival. We are involved with, support and encourage research into all aspects of koala health, habitat and conservation. Friends of the Koala has a close relationship with Southern Cross University whose Lismore campus is located adjacent to the Koala Care & Research Centre. At present there are many opportunities for koala based projects for students. These include mapping, radio tracking, data collation and the development of a community based koala survey. If you are interested in such a project please email Ross Goldingay at ross.goldingay@scu.edu.au to find out more information. A recent Integrated Project looking at mapping the incidence of disease in koalas in the Northern Rivers has just been completed by SCU student Gwen Seznec. To view a draft of her paper click here . In 2009 Friends of the Koala hosted a Koala Conservation Conference held on SCU Campus. For information regarding the Conference please Click Here .
