Hayley
Where Hayley comes from there are not many trees so the koalas have to spend greater amounts of time on the ground moving around looking for food. It is during these times they are at greatest risk from dogs - both domestic and wild. Hayley was immediately placed in home care with an experienced koala carer. She was thoroughly checked for puncture wounds in case the dog had injured her as well. Fortunately this was not the case. Several months after being in care, Hayley was paired up with another koala Comet who is the same age and they have become best buddies.
