Friends of the Koala is an entirely voluntary organisation with very little government funding. The main source of funds for the care and treatment of koalas is via donations and the Support a Koala program.

It can cost over $20 a day to provide a single koala with the food and medications it needs to be able to return to the wild. $50 can help with the milk needed to feed a koala joey for a month. $100 can help with tests required to get a thorough diagnosis of a koala so it can be treated appropriately. $500 can help with the basic costs of a new koala enclosure.
