Canada

After being observed for a few days in the same tree this little cutie was brought into care for further assessment. An obvious symptom was that she has cysitis - a common infection in koalas caused by chlamydia.

A full assessment also showed that she has a dislocated collar bone and broken shoulder. A bit of a rough start for a koala who would be less than two years old weighing in at only 2.7kg.

She has been placed on suitable medications to clear up her infections and relieve her pain. Currently in an outdoor enclosure with an older female, Victoria, to keep her company she is responding well to care and already has all the carers in the Care Centre wrapped around her little claws.

The name Canada came from the Canadian visitors who were at the property where she was found.

Canada was successfully released on May 9. If however you would like to receive information on Canada and the story of her return to the wild please click on the links below to offer your support which will be put directly towards the care of koalas in need.
