Shelly - koala who fell in a bucket of sump oil: Shelly rehabilitated koala who fell in a bucket of sump oilShelly - koala who fell in a bucket of sump oil Shelly, a young female, came into care with Friends of the Koala after an altercation with a bucket of sump oil. The result being a black oily tinge over much of her front, one side and her paws. Shelly was given medication to calm her down on arrival and allow her to have a bath to wash most of the oil off. Thanks to Karen Scott of Wildcare Australia who was down that day for an echidna training course so was able to help with this process. After much discussion over names including Diesel, BP, Castrol - Shelly was decided upon. Shelly will receive a vet check prior to release to ensure the smell of the fumes has not caused any damage to her lungs.

After a thorough vet check to ensure Shelly had no problems with her lungs from the inhalation of fumes she was released on 24 July.
