Kaytoo and NinaKaytoo has been living on the property of two of our very active members - Lorraine Vass and her husband Rick. Lorraine is our current President and Rick has been on many a koala rescue and spent many years collecting leaf.

Lucky for Kaytoo, Rick and Lorraine were able to spot early that she had cystitis. Without treatment cystitis will more than likely result in a very, slow painful death. The situation was complicated because Kaytoo also had a back young joey - Nina. Nina is at an age where she still very much needs her mum but occasionally spends time away from her. This made it a little difficult to catch Kaytoo but Rick and Lorraine knew the earlier treatment was started for this horrible disease the greater the chance of a successful outcome.

It did not take long, although it did take a bit of patience, to capture the two of them together and they were immediately taken to the Care Centre so Kaytoo's medications could be started.

Both Kaytoo and Nina settled into care well. Kaytoo responded well to treatments which is a relief to us all. The joy of watching a young koala joey interact with its mother was an absolute delight to the volunteers in the Care Centre.

Both Kaytoo and Nina have now fully recovered and been released back onto the property where they were found. Both have been spotted well and healthy since release.
