Ellie

Ellia an orphaned koalaEllie was orphaned when her mother was hit by a care. Fortunately one of the people who was first at the scene had visited the Care Centre a few days before and had learnt how to pick up a koala and how important it is to get them into care with an experienced carers as quick as possible.

Ellie was only 387g at the time. After some initial ups and downs as she settled into her feeding routine she is now doing very well and almost ready to start learning how to be outside and climb real trees. Until then she lives in her makeshift tree in the house of her home carer. Her buddy is Spice whose mother was also killed by being hit by a car. Ellie and Spice enjoy playing together at night and cuddling while they sleep during the day.

After many months in care both Ellie and Spice were successfully released back to the wild together.
